This is a 3-piece “sub/sat” system based on Zaph's Hi-Vi B3S design.
It started with the sub: A $6 Salvation Army find. It's a Celestion CSW Mk II powered subwoofer. It works, so I did not change anything. Woofers have rubber surrounds, so no foam rot. It was missing one of the black plastic snap-on “decorative” panels so these were replaced with some pieces of solid oak that a friend salvaged from the scrap pile at his wood shop.
The satellites are Zaph designs (with some mods): zaph|audio
The drivers are Hi-Vi B3N (because they look cooler than the B3S). The cabinets were made from a piece of solid oak column salvaged from the same shop and some solid oak end pieces rescued from the wood stove.
I followed Zaph's filter design, using 6 ohm resistors for R2 as a compromise because they will be a gift and I'm not sure where the sats will be placed.
The cabinets were stuffed with polyfill.
These little speakers produce a lot of amazing, realistic sound! They do need a sub, and seem to integrate well with the Celestion.

I like those little oak cubes so well I may make a pair with the Fountek FE83 3" Full Range Driver ($7 closeout at PE)

Another pair.
Just finished another set, this time using a Polk PSW200 subwoofer. This time the satellites are maple instead of oak and I added some round metal mesh grilles from an ebay seller in China.
I discovered these do not do well with a plain stereo amp, as Zaph had warned. Best bet is to use an HT receiver with a sub out jack.
My friend who supplied the wood has 2 young married sons and one sub/sat set went to each of them.
