Hi all!
I have one behringer DEQ2496 and two DXC2496 in my HT system which I want to connect in an other way than they are connected today.
They now resides between PRE-Out And Mains-In of my HK AVR7000. I'm not fully satisfied with this setup since:
a). There's an extra D/A---A/D conversion.
b). The behringer units isn't always at their full capacity, since the input level is variable.
I would like to connect them digitally right after the internal surround decoder. So, my idea Is to buy a cheap and easy to "tear apart and modify" receiver, hack in to the TTL/i2s, and add AES/EBU transmitters to each channels (3*2). The subwoofer channel I can do without, I'll let the DCX extract it from L+R.
Then there's the problem with volume control. My idea here is a passive one, at the outputs of the DCX's, ALPS probably have some suiting pots for this, but I want to use the remote for the reciver for this, so my second requirement is a motorized volume control on the receiver which I can use with the alps pots.
The output of the volume control will feed the mains in on the HK, or some other amplifier.
Further more I'll have to modify the 'C' inputs on the DCX's to support digital input.
Any ideas? 😎

I am using a Technics SH-AC300d processor for this. This is a nice one, because you can direct the bass well and it is easy to interface. Getting a bit old though...
I am working on an APOX setup for 6-channel volume control.

Tiroth,
I'm more into buying something of the shelf, which have support for the latest formats (DTS EX, etc). Something like Yamaha 440 or 540, but I have no idea of how complex their implementation is.
Allthough I'm quite interested in how you digitally interface with the Technics processor. Any info in this matter is useful to me.
Care 2 share? 🙂
thanks!

I just rip the signals out at the DAC chip. You shouldn't have a problem doing this with any system that has a discrete DAC.
