An another way to Firstwatt F1?

As the tittle said i plan to build a F1 for may Fostex FE168ES in Back Horn

I have in hand enough filtering capa and a empty amp case from a past project with good amout of heathink.

The Idea was to realise the F1 since these sort of amp match very well with full range speaker as fostex.
Since I have on hand 200 IRFP044 for 2 Aleph X project i ask me if it's a silly idea to replace IRFP240 by 044, in the diff paire but in CCS to. In ZenV2 there one IRFP044 CCS modele. The friend that allway help me is to busy to spend time on that

Your variation with all IRF044 of N channel, including the swapped upper CCS, looks possibly better than the Papa's original.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but an all IRF044 Firstwatt is just what I want. Sadly, all the links are dead. Any help?

You should be able to just drop the IRF044 in place of the IRFP-240. If you want to also replace the IRFP9240s with IRF044s, take a look at the Zen Variations 2 article.

To revive an old thread a second time;

OK, I get the F1 plus Zen V2 CCS, simple enough.

Now, how would I modify it for higher power. Lots of IRF044's available 🙂

I can post schematic of F1 + N-ch CCS, but no idea how to add ouput devices for more power. Are they in parallel, Darlington, what about beefing up 1st stage?

Since the schematic shows a balanced front end is all one needs to do to run it with a RCA cable is to hook the negative of the RCA cable to the minus input. This is for someone building from the schematic only. Page 6.
