You can go to a restaurant and order a "Hot ice coffee" or "Hot Ice tea", what will you get?
I'm very interested in Single Ended Class AB. What its like?

output transistors
Hi!
I know a man who swear on the BDY73. He tryed a lot of another kin of transistor, but he find that the amp is with thees tramsistors are the most musicalist. I will try it soon too.

Pretty Awful.

BDY73 is an advanced analogue of old 2N3055 with fT = 2.5 MHz instead of 800kHz. Recently produced 2N3055 has got higher fT, too.

😀 I tought this is a "Non-Existing" thing. What, it does exist?Pretty Awful.
I couldnt imagine what its like. Is it like Aleph30 with 10mA bias on final stage?
Or what is the sound of Circlotrons 50W class A (with 17kg chokes) biased at 10mA? Sounded like wrecked speakers?
Aleph-X is well ranked by some ppl...
i never made an amp mylseft... i want to build an good one (im short of money and dont want to waste money) 😀.... if i build an Aleph-X it will sound great, right?
(i have an Yamaha rv-595a, will the Aleph Sounde better)?
thanks

Out the window
My basis for my ranking system is gone. My son, that plays guitar and has a very good ear for music has set up a surround sound receiver. This is to take the place of the Aleph, JLH, Le Monstre, and jamtunes amps he has been using.
🙄

No Opti-mos ???
Nine pages of discussion and not a single mention of Opti-mos ??
I have heard good things about this amp elsewhere on the forum but just wondering why did it not make it to anyone's list of amplifier ranking ? 😕
I have not built or heard it, just 'heard about it'.

Up dating my ranking
1) JLH 1969 model
2) AKSA 55 with upgrade Nirvana
3) JLH upgrades
4) JLH clones

Hi destroyer X
Did you try a MOSFET version of the JLH 10 Watter? I can send you an updated schematic if you're interested..

Thijs

I give a vote for the P101.
A- it sounds good
B- despite an error on the first batch the PCB is easy to stuff and otherwise pretty good quality. The next batcg with corrections should be really slick.
C- The "flat against the heaksink" configuration makes mounting on the enclosure very easy.
D- The only amp I ever built that worked perfectly on the first try.
Only qualm: I would like a higher value input cap or if brave direct couple it. Rather than hang a big Solen off the end of the board, I took the heretical option of using a 47uF bi-polar electro (something I've done before when space was an issue).

I am using those different caps everywhere, desperately
Trying to find a "perfect" sound...hehe, i have to go out and hear one alive orchestra, i know that....but, if i can hear something alike inside my house will be wonderfull.
But will finish my "search".... and this will be bad too.
So, lets the world goes turning the way it is running, and related schematics.
Of course... we all want schematics.... thousands schematics... as much you send as much i go trying...this is my game...hehe...never winning game....if i win...game is finished.
regards,
Carlos

Hehe, from my feeling this "search" will never find an end...
It's more like an odysee !
I am now building and trying amps for ~1.5 years, one after another,
it get's better and better and as long as it gets better i can't stop !
One damn thing, i haven't tried the JLH yet, don't know why...
So, on top of my ranking is of course always my latest amp. (if working)

The JLH is the "terminator", or the "exterminator"
If you did not try, as you said, do not do that.
Because you will hold your gun and Booooom! in many others!
Better to stay going without this reference.....it is the "shame on you" model.....the "damn reality"...... "face the real thing".....hehe

Hmm, but this was the idea, to have a reference...
On the other side, hold my gun and Booom! in many others, sounds
like a lot of fun ... Just kidding !
I think i didnt build it yet, because i avoided ClassA...
So the JLH sounds really THAT good ?
My other references are too bad... (Easily outperformed)
But if it is that good, i simply keep it !
