Amplifier for a small DIY powered speaker

Hi everyone, another noob here ( don't you love us ) following this thread with interest.
I am putting together a home karaoke system on a budget and I am at the point where i have speakers and mixing desk and mics and software and songs.
Now I would like to make it portable so I can bring it to friends house if requested.
So I have been advised that I should get active speakers but since reading this thread the idea of making my passive speakers active seems like a good plan.
While the ability to change bass and treble at the speaker might be normal, I doubt that I need this as I have the mixing desk to alter bass treble etc so I am wondering do I simply need a power amp setup to add to one of the speakers internally that has the ability to feed a second speaker .
So can you suggest a very simple diy power amp with about 100 Watt by two channels capability that i can retrofit into a speaker to make it active and feed it's partner.
Thank you in advance for any help or advice you can give
