Hi guys,
Planning to build a subwoofer, specifically an Infinity Reference 1250W in a sealed enclosure (300WRMS, but don't really need all of them).
I was looking at some plate amps, but I taught that would be a nice learning experience to put it together with separate pieces.
I'm planning to power it with an IRS2092 (open to alternatives), what other modules do I have to add?
I don't exclude in the future to add DSP.
Thanks!

- A power supply (dual rail), 2 options there:
- Toroid and a rectifier (is 300VA ok? or can I go smaller?)
- Power supply board (Example) do I still need a rectifier or can I go with the one on the board alone?
- An op amp module for the crossover, (Not really needed as I have it already in the AVR, but will eventually add it for completeness with the possibility to exclude it),
- Soft start module?
- Any way to add standby mode? couldn't find any module boards around,
- BT not needed,
- various connectors, pots, etc...
I don't exclude in the future to add DSP.
Thanks!

building subwoofer amplifier is alot more complicated because it require high power output which means more components needed. is this your first time building such amp?
have you look at behringer 1000dsp? it should give you plenty power
for that 4ohm sub you will need at least 500VA
notes : i use nu3000dsp for my kappa perfect 12, tried to build high power amp but too complicated

Hi,
yes, first time with a sub amply, but I'm not aiming to build the whole thing...my skills are far from that.
Just wanting to put together the modules.
Alternative would be a plate amplifier like the Monacor SAM-200 or 300...
My mains are Troel's Discovery 18 powered with 50W RMS so the output required for the sub is not very high and 200/300W should give me some room for DSP too...Also because I'm not planning to listen to it too loud.

ok then i suggest just buy sub amp with dsp, beside behringer that i had suggested, I also will buy Crown XLS 1502 for my dual-opposed sub because behringer can not handle 4ohm infinity in parallel.
i think with plate you'll be limited to options for adjustment, dsp is the king for sub usage. i check that monacor 200 price is the same range with behringer 1000dsp so go with sub amp with dsp that you can find

Hi, no room for external amplifier unfortunately and the enclosure will just be 30something liters (About 1cuft). will have to be plate or board amplifier,
Was going for the amplifier board route as it is more fun to build and gives me more flexibility.
Dsp will come in the form of a Dayton LF or a DIY dsp board so I can use a single DSP for 2 subs if I'll add a second one so no need to have it as part of the amplifier itself.
I'm just looking for some suggestions on which modules is worth to hook up together...
