im new at this site, and im not sure if this topic falls under Class D. I have a 15" kicker subs that i want to plug in to an amplifier so that i can run it at my room using 220v power plug.. i hope you guys can help me thanks.
Hello, Slamdunk
Do you want to design the amplifier circuit and PSU yourself, or do you want an amplifier module and PSU?

yes you can, might be a bit hard though , have you made any amplifier kit before ? I think quite plenty is available in phillipine
how about for beginners that wants to make an amp that will run 600 watts at 2ohms ... where can i find a schematics? or what do i need, i want to try making one... i never build an amp before
600 watts at 2 ohm is pretty formidable project, especially if Class D. and switching supplies.
for beginner better not make anything larger than 100 watt first.
and using 2 ohm load you will waste a lot of power in the cable, connector resistance, etc, also the amp will have hard time driving it.
does the subwoofer have 2 x 4 ohm voice coil ?
better solution is to drive it in series to become 8 ohm.
or using 2 amplifier to drive each voice coil.
there are many schematic, the problem is , if not done correctly, and the amp/speaker is damaged........... well we wouldn't want that to happen right ? 😀
do you have oscilloscope and multimeter ?
we can take it step by step here, I'm sure plenty of people here would have many suggestions.
anybody have simple amplifier plan for Slamdunk ??

I have modded P68 from www.sound.au.com with 50V rails and ten pairs of MJ15003/4 devices. can drive about 500wrms into 2ohms
Thanks for the info djQUAN (lechon lechon lechon 😀 )
I'm having trouble accessing that page
I believe this is the same website with the same project :
http://sound.westhost.com/project68.htm
if you look down on the article..... down in the middle..... there's this red colored sentence that says :
DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS AMPLIFIER AS YOUR FIRST PROJECT
😱
was it simple to build and measure for beginner ?

that was because the amp deals with high power and high voltage supplies. the reader will build it at his/her own risk I won't be held responsible for whatever happens to him/her or what happens to the equipment.

I would be very concerned if any beginner is making 600 watt amps.
And at the and you realize that 100w is enough. Ok, maybe 200 but it is very loud even with low db speakers.
Do you plan to make 600w amp because speaker label says it is 600w? If so then do not connect it to 600w, 300 will do the job.
