hows it goin fellas...new to the forum so easy on me aye ..joke..anyway fell into a bit of a situation..the problem--the protection light on my amp is on and ive gone over alota things that i thought couldve fixed it and none of them worked so far i have checked to make sure that no part of the battery wire or ground wire was exposed or cut also changed the rca cables and at the moment pullin my hair out over it.the amp is a fusion fe-300d mono(crap) ive checked the fuses(kinda and all seems well) and it cant be a problem with my deck(alpine head unit). to open the amp scares me and paying someone to look at it will kill my pockets same with buying a new one. i guess i can just turn off the subs and listen to music like how it was when i first bought my car(5 years ago) but that would be borin and im no longer annoying the neighbourhood thats no fun anyway guys sorry for the long sob story but any help or anything would be greatly appreciated.THANKS....

You tried many things, but did you remove the speakers to see if the light goes off? This would be the first step to isolate the source or the load.
removing speaker leads from amp doesnt turn protection light off its still on but when i removed the rca cables that made the light go off for a few minutes then it came back on.would changing the rca cables again be a good idea??

The RCAs should not cause the amp to go into protection. I think the amp needs some surgery.
I've seen similar problems when solder connections on the output transistors or the emitter resistors have failed. When no signal is present, the output rests at 0vdc (no DC offset). When any signal is applied, it forces the output to move from 0v. If both the positive and negative outputs are not operating properly (possibly due to a bad connection), the output can not be returned to 0v. This causes the amp to have a DC offset which will cause the amp to go into protect.
If a broken connection is the problem, you can often apply slight pressure to the board (in the general area of the outputs in this case) and the problem will go away.
If it were a shorted output (a common failure that causes amps to go into protect mode), I'd expect it to go into protect every time you power it up.

on my way home the amp must of come out of protection mode cause i had the subs pumpin real good for at least 20 minutes...
i found turning off the sub through the deck setting then turning off the deck waiting a few minutes then turning everything back on id get another 20 minutes...but i dont wanna risk blowing anything so ill leave it off for now.could something be loose inside the amp...if so anything in particular i should be paying attention to, or could there be maybe something wrong with the head unit im using?
