Hi guys,
I couldn't find anything in the boards on this, and being a complete beginner in amp electronics I'm not sure if there's already something around that'd be what I'm looking for or not.
I'm looking into building a custom amp for my POD XT Live. There are a couple of amps, the 'Tech21 Power Engine' and the 'Atomic Reactor' amps that are designed to work with modeling systems, but they're either out of my price range or difficult to order in New Zealand.
So what I'm looking to build is essentially a keyboard amp (I'd buy a keyboard amp, but I really don't like the look of them!) - a power amp/speaker enclosure with the least amount of sound coloration from the electronics/speakers.
I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for where to start looking for, or even a particular schematic, that I could look into building? Simplicity is probably the safest route until I know a bit more.
*I'm pretty flexible in terms of wattage, 60-100 would be good for practice/gigging. Also flexible in design, speaker config, etc. I was considering using either Eminence or Celestion speakers, most likely a 2 x 12 config.
*New Zealand runs on 240v mains supply if that's something that needs to be considered.
*The POD XT can be switched between AMP and LINE output - the AMP output has a gain knob to increase the output - not sure if this means I'll need a pre-amp or if the POD already outputs acceptable level for a power amp to use. It also has L/R outputs, rather than just a mono out.
Thanks for reading, and for any suggestions you have!
Mitch
