A while back I finished a Hammond AO-35 chassis to 18 watt conversion,
and built it a home, my first scratch-built cabinet. I never got the cosmetics
the way I wanted them until this past weekend. The top vent mesh is now silver,
and I figured out what I wanted to to about a handle. I'm really pleased with the
result, and thought I'd share.

It's loud, bright, pretty clean but gets dirty up top of the dial.
Overall pretty nice. Not as thick sounding as any of my 6V6
or 6L6 amps (Muzak(tm) PA conversion and old blackface
bassman).

It's a good looking amp. Is it just painted blue? (No tolex?) I'm actually thinking about doing that with the amp I'm building because I don't plan on taking it out much, so it doesn't really need the Tolex protection.

Correct, no tolex. It's blue stain and clear lacquer. When I finished the cabs,
I wasn't ready to tackle Tolex yet -- still working up to that..
I'm pleased with the results, but not knocked out. Can't decide if staining/finishing
wood is more art than science or the other way around, but there sure are a ton
of ways to dick it up..
If there's any way that I can be of assistance -- even if only to learn from
my (many) mistakes, feel free to PM me.
