I'd like to add a small screen and a not-ugly case to my raspberry pi streamer (uses volumio). The only thing close to the aesthetic I'm thinking are the sold out ones here. Not sure if aluminum or steel is more commonly used.
Does anyone know of a company/source for the sort of machined metal style cases?
There's probably a proper word for this aesthetic/era but something (anything) like this:

That's brushed aluminium, not machined. It is likely stamped sheet/plate for low cost production.
Nowadays CNC machining is a more common approach. Brushed finish isn't very hardwearing, typically has a lacquer coating to keep it clean and protect the printing from rubbing off.

Sadly, that look is an end of an audio era. 70s had some great looking gear, that we'll likely not see again. Big, bold, and beautiful equipment.
If you can do your own milling, take a look at JC2210.
Same case as in your link, slightly longer version.
