YES, GM, right on the spot, yes, I was talking about those, and remember too that there were another set from another guy that used non-modified drivers!!! can't remember it's name though.
Any thoughts on that one?

oops , bad link I guess, but on that page, search for impresario speaker
http://members.lycos.co.uk/fiultra/KISS%20195%20The%20Impresario.jpg
same driver: Beta 12, but different dimensions (146L - driver and
braces against 127L for the afterburner).
Sadly I never saw any graphs spl/imp from them

What about the filter (xover)? ...Is it reserved info? 🤐
maybe if you send an email they can give you the information in need for that particular new set-up speaker-use-scenario, what would be very good.

Greets!
AJ's comment on the drawing is 'flat' to 61 Hz, which if placed well away from any boundaries is probably true on average, IOW he tuned it to have built-in baffle step, ergo somewhat under damped and if tube driven would be even more so:

There is also the "Afterburner Project" that uses the Eminence fullrange dirver that the Hammer is based on. Not modded. You might find that one. The new version of the Beta 12LTA is not the same as the old one, so YMMV.
Well, I'm guessing that graph from GM was from the Andrew Brandon's Afterburner own version (am I guessing right GM?)
I wonder what would happen if those were close to corners
And it's a nice sugestion Inductor, I will try also to email Jute about it's own Impresario's to see if I can get other measures.
What I really like about those projects, is it's budget driver cost and the easy box setup (and yes Inductor, I am building my own boxes).
Now, I was hoping from more ~40Hz or so roll-off, so I will try to find more info on this drivers.
Thanx again to all for your kind comments

Right, it's the one I referenced in #23. BTW, is that Bricklin you checked on awhile back still rotting away?

No, 'AJ' = Andre Jute, ergo it's his 'Impressario'. It should be unbearably 'boomy' without increasing the vent length considerably.
Actually, the Afterburner was one of the first designs I simmed with MJK's PORTED WS when it came out:

Indeed! He was credited with the porn spam, including some child and beast, to the Sound Practices list (aka joelist) when he allegedly felt affronted, among other things. That said, my few conversations both on and off the list with him before I heard about/experienced all this other stuff was quite formal, cordial, so I wonder if he really was responsible or was it one of his many detractors hi-jacking his account. Then again, I've been told he's a 'Jekyll & Hyde' personality, so be forewarned just in case.

I don't know. Don't get up to that corner of the island very often. My guess would be yes, that's island life!
(sorry for the OT)
Sounds like that's where I need to live then! Anyway, not much further OT than cheap Eminence driver designs on an Altec thread......

Eminence Beta 12LTA (maybe LT) - € 65,62 plus transport.
Don't forget the tweeters.
Some DIY at "DIY Forum" - Eminence Beta 12lta:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=10350
Also, to walk a different path:
Beyma coaxial (I don't have prices)
250W 12XC30 - very smooth Ferrite/Neodymium LF+HF units 45/6000/20.000Hz
or better, with also 98dB's
the ultra smooth 350W 12XA30Nd Neodymium/Neodymium LF+HF units 35/4000/20.000Hz
... just checking.

you're right 😀 sorry 'bout that
Well, with oodles of info in this as well as other forums, what started simple rapidly deviated

Altec goes BassZilla goes Afterburner... oh well !!!
I praise very much all of your answers and invaluable help in what could be my speakers choice in the 1000€ region to feed the 8W set JEL Labs/Derek Walton clone.
No doubt that had I the necessary space, basszilla's would be the logical choice now...
Now this Neodymium woofers from Beyma, didn't they build guitar speakers too like eminence?
379€ in Germany for those drivers:
http://www.speaker-online.de/shop/beyma/beyma.pdf
and specs
roll off at ~60hz in BR enclosure, although 35-4000hz range, seems like a nice one
Greets!
Not familiar with any of the Beyma products other than what I read, but in browsing their site it seems to me that for HIFI apps you'd want to use their 'studio' recommended co-ax, the 8BX, which goes to ~32 Hz in a modest (by my standards) size TL or MLTL.

this is also a sound investment with good ready made xover parts from the factory and some box projects. With Fs at 52Hz is a little bit high for my taste. Good basket in cast aluminium though, ...and HF unit included in the package.Beyma 8BX

Check also JBL 2206 - 600W 12"/Vifa DX25 - 140W soft dome
all included with xover kit $350 (USD) each (x2 for pair).
