I own a pair of Celestion K12H-200TC drivers and want to figure out a good cabinet for them.

The Altec 614 was also intended for a 12" driver and I'm wondering if that would be a good match for my drivers. I really dig the old school looks of the Altec cabinet and have seen some plans online that I can hang off to a local cabinet maker.

Any input is appreciated!

I'll make a guess that the 614 with its Fb of ~55Hz (noted in Altec paper below) and for ~ flat response, probably would need to be tuned lower (by appropriate extension of its vent depth) - it might sound fine with stock tuning - you could try that first then experiment with temporarily extending the vent depth with cardboard and duct tape.

the Karlsonator12 should work - you may not like its looks. Built to plans, Fb is about 37Hz. xrk971 or GregB probably have ideas on how to tune it a bit higher if needed.

Thanks for the input freddi

My knowledge related to the mechanics of speaker enclosures is very limited but I enjoy learning more about the subject.

I have seen the Karlsonator12 before and will say its interesting but not the look I'd want.

I would be comfortable playing with the port depth of a 614 cab. Also found this kit from a german speaker magazine that looks interesting.
