Alpair 7P enclosure?

After finishing a pair of Martello desktops for my wife's home office using Fountek FR88EX speakers I now have the bug to look at something a bit bigger.
I am looking at building a pair of speakers using Mark Audio Alpair 7ps. Anyone have any suggestions for an enclosure?? I see planet 10 has the Slim Classic GR dMar-Ken7 cabinets. How would these work with these speakers, or is another cabinet be more appropriate? I listen to classical orchestrated, & film score music as well as jazz, might pair these with a tv for a 2 way set up. Any suggestions would be great.

The Martellos work great for tv speakers as well for a small room too.

Thanks, looking forward for the help.

Maybe only the Pensils are calculated for A7p. I couldn't find other available dedicated designs. Probably Frugel-Horn enclosure will also work well. I have a pair and probably some day I will put them in pensils mainly for their small footprint and the front vent 🙂

zman, Right now I am considering the Alpair 7p but have not pulled the trigger. I talked to Madisound yesterday, the are considering not sticking the Alpair 7 anymore because of the numerous choices of speakers out there. The planet 10 enclosure I mentioned originally is about the right choice of cabinet size I have in mind. Hoping to find a speaker that sounds best in it. If the 7p works - great, if not which one? keeping a similar price point...Thanks

I haven’t yet got much done for the P7HD, but i am slowly getting the A7/11ms/P7HD tackled.

I have yet to listen to my pair but the P7HD is purported to be a delopment on the A7.3 which should make it very good. It does look like it can take advantage of a slighly larger enclosure then the A7s, but — with changed tuning — will worl in the deciCGR.

There is also an Alpair 7ms which would work in a 13 litre Classic Golden Ratio, (CGR) box if you are willing to build a box that big. Planet10 could probably modify an existing box to be tuned perfectly for this fairly new driver. I have the larger Alpair 11ms which I think is a really amazing driver. This larger driver will actually work in a smaller box so this could be another consideration.

I did a vented standmount for the 7P some time ago (attached) but it tended to go under the radar a bit. Since the driver is now discontinued, I'm not planning on any new designs. It goes into FH3 & Maeshowe fine; I suspect that's where many ended up.

The P7phd will go OK into dPlu-Ken7. The box is tuned a bit lower than ideal, and response will drop off a bit sooner than optimum, but it is hard to change the box to increase the tning frequency.

So go for it.

Note: P7phd is closer than CHN-70 in this box (i assume that is what you mean by CHN7). I expect, from the auditoning that i have done so far, that p7phd will have similar voicing to CHN-70 but with higher DDR/resolution.

How specific are the dimension ratios for this enclosure?

I would like to increase width to 180mm and decrease depth to 260mm to compensate as it would make part of the building process slightly easier and the speaker slightly shallower.
