Hi,I'm a new member and looking for advice.
My previous system now defunct was a marantz cd-67se into a nad 5020 and mission 773e speakers.
Sadly the cd player despite repeated fixes gave up the ghost a while ago and the nad amp badly needs recapping.
So for some time I've been listening on a rubbish bt player and hankering after something decent but new and hopefully not too expensive.
Then last night one of my best friends is moving and says he'll gift me his mission 770 freedom speakers.
A step up in quality over the 773e's.
So I started looking for a new amp and streamer and found the allo.com boss 2 player and the volt d+ amp.and thought that's absolutely perfect and not too pricey either
Then of course I realise it's out of stock and for all I know discontinued.
Can anyone recommend an equivalent for the boss 2 player? And or volt d+ amp? In roughly the same price point please.
I'm a total newbie to all this streaming technology. Being 55 and coming from the world of nuts and bolts.
So any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm in the UK too. England
Thankyou.

I use, amongst others, one of these on a RPi, running piCorePlayer. You'll need a case and a 19v power supply (ignore the 26v printed on the board, that is an error, and will fry your board). It works very well with a set of Mission 760 speakers.

I've used a Boss player for a while now and it's really good. A buddy uses a Pi with a HiFi Berry SPDIF HAT into his NAD class D amp that has a DAC built in. I think my Boss sounds better.
I just received my Boss 2 today but am waiting for for a new RPi4 to come back in stock. The original Boss I bought was shipped from India. I was impatient and didn't wait for the Canadian distributor to get new stock. The Boss 2 came from the Canadian distributor (it was backordered about 1 week) so I know they are still making them.
55? You're just a kid. John Darko, https://darko.audio/2020/07/a-short-film-about-the-raspberry-pi-as-music-streamer-and-server/ did a video about setting up a RPi as a server/streamer a while ago. It's a bit thin on detail so I wrote a more nuanced, multi-part, instruction on Wall of Sound.ca The first part is here: https://wallofsound.ca/audioreviews/digital/digital-diy-steve-bakes-a-raspberry-pi-part-1/
You can control the Pi from a browser but it's a bit clunky. I use the iPeng app (~10 USD) on an iPad and it works really well. My buddy uses a different app (~8 USD) on his inexpensive Samsung android tablet.
All of the software you need to get the Pi up and running is FREE!
Cheers, S.

I tried material skin but couldn't get it to work. I'm not savvy enough I guess. I like the iPeng app better than the Lumin app on my wife's system. For 10 bucks I'll stick with iPeng and not stress about what I can't do.
