Sorry to hear the news. I just learned how to tune a turntable from his guidence.
Thanks you Mr. Wright. Rest in peace.

The Munich DIY folks miss Allen Wright, who for nearly a decade was part of Munich DIY community. I enjoyed the hours we shared listening to preamp stuff, discussing music over a beer, and having some good time. He had a fine character and was as helpful as can be. He also was a great contributor to the first European Triode Festivals.

I only met Allen once and liked him from the first minute. I won't forget the support and concern Allen showed for John Camille when he was dying of cancer. His last post here was January 7th. May God rest his soul.

Very sad news.
Allen was extremely helpful, even on his own initiative, he offered me a very beneficial assistance before I asked him.
May he rest in peace.

Sorry to read this. I only "knew" him via email but always found him willing to help and guide. I remember several years ago after emailing him that I had built his FVP4 after buying his cables and preamps book and how wonderful it was how tickled he seemed and quickly suggested I now try the FVP5 and then write him about it which I also built and of course wrote him about. He then made further suggestions to improve the FVP5.
Rest In Peace Allen.

Whew... I met Allen at one of JC Morrison's "NY Noise" shindigs when he had this giant factory loft in Hoboken... good fellow... cancer sucks.

Holy @#%! Really????
I've spent a lot of time with Allen over the past 6 or 7 years. A real gentleman, loved sharing ideas and music. I'm... shattered.
While I never met him in person I've had many worthwhile conversations with him both by email and on the forums over a good many more years than I would like to admit.
Alan was generous with his time and funny to a fault in his correspondence.
Exchanged more than a few yarns about the business..
I'm just stunned.. I'll miss him.
as many others have stated, even a brief opportunity to spend time with Allen ( VSAC 2003 in my case) is illuminating and paradigm changing

Sorry to hear this! Allen was one of the more creative designers in the business, one of the bright lights in high end audio.
Have known Allen since mid-90's, and admit i distributed his Cable Cookbook long before many people ever knew of Allen. Met him in USA and in Germany quite a few times, enjoyed drinks, food... lots of fun talk.
So sad to hear he passed. My best wishes and prayers to all close to him.

I am still working on one of his designs as my first tube amp project... Got some important questions answered by him per email, quickly and friendly, although he probably had much more important things to do... This was only a few months ago...
Strange feeling to read now that he has passed away so suddenly.
I wish his family and his friends all the strength and comfort they may need now.

A great character is gone.
At one of the Danish Triode Festivals some ten years ago we listened to a huge collection of the same song ("Fever") on LP, CD and SACD with Allen "behind the knobs".
A session that has a special place in my mind for ever...

I am deeply saddened to hear that. Met him on the Munich High End show 2010 for the last time, he already didn't look too healthy.
What a loss, not only for the audio community. My thoughts are with his family.
