Allegro 3000 drivers & design?

I found this did a world of good for mine. 😀

These might be newer than yours. They come with the 1288 tweeter.

Like I said, I want this be cheap and I will veneer the project. Baltic birch plywood is expensive, is that what you were thinking?

The volume of this cabinet is 2777.8 so if I change the shape but keep the volume I will be ok right? I am going to look up more articles

Hmm... I do not have the skill set to design cabinets. I have no way of testing the drivers. I would think ( hope ) they designed the cabinet correctly. I would stay with a rectangle in shape just adjust the look for something a little nicer. I was thinking also of a Verrtical alignment of the drivers.

Something else, can the port be 1/2 halved and made into 2 vs 1? what about placement does it effect sound?

These questions are probably very basic but again I want to stay very basic on this build, learn while I do it and then continue to refine.

Given that one of the 1st useful mods to these is to just remove the back, one has to question how accurate the box design is. And in the day it was (and stills) common to see these tuned to have a lump in the bass.

Ideally you would test the drivers to give an idea of what they want to be in… the 1270s i had predate my T/S measure capability.

I would start with a big sealed box if i was just guessing.

That is a good idea.

I know this is a bit old, but figured rude to start a new zenith woofer thread.

I found the T/S parameters for the woofer, and built a box about 1.9 cubic feet. It sounds quite decent, but a bit lacking in deep bass. The woofers do BEST in a fairly big box, more like about 2.5 cubic feet.

I am not sure about removing the backs though.
I have heard this woofer in a huge zenith console and it had quite deep bass. Although the console had about 3.5 cu ft per woofer.
