Hi CLS,
Your comments are extremely useful to me, as I'm currently deciding how best to use my APT-50. I'm considering a similar waveguide (shorter) made from BB ply, turned on a lathe. I don't really want to be ordering parts from the US.
Thanks
Simon

Hi CLS,
OB = Oh Boy ! I bet that sounds good !
If mine I would try the tweeter forwards a little on extension studs, with say a foam roll between horn edge and baffle.
Also I would have a foam strip along the bottom edge sealing an air tight gap between the baffle and the floor to effectively double the baffle height dimension. As long as there are no wings, such floor sealing very effectively increases very low frequency radiation without causing differential pressure distortion or resonance effects.
Cheers ........ Graham.

Thanks for the compliments🙂
Hi Graham,
I do remember your advice about the bottom of baffle. However I've been busy on other things, and the bass is really good already! I don't feel any lack of it. So there's not much motivation😱
And this pair of baffles are my platform of experiments, a 'real' version is on planning. There will also be another OB for bass (accomondating another 2* 18") which will be placed at the position of 'center channel'. Then I'll have multiple dipole 'subs'😀
...
More to come. So many things to do and so little time....

Wow, those are simply stunning! Lovely thick baffle, I love it. I bet they sound better, yes?

yunick - my dear 😉
give me data for your speakers and I'll try to put them through great MJK sheets .
lately I do the same with 2 pcs of Alpha15 per side , along with some Sonido's . results are promising .....
any news in family ?

Yunick, at what point do you cross over to the tweeter? Also, are you using the Alpha 6 as the midrange? If yes, for what frequencies?
Nice work, they look great. Would you mind getting a few close up shots of the Alpha 6, I'd like to see what it's like after the EnABL process. 🙂
Thanks alot for your kind words guys. 🙂
Unfortunatly they are now sold to my friend in northern part of Sweden. My plan is to build similar to Zen Mod's suggestion (1 x Sonido, 2 x Alpha-15") but time is precious these days.
X-over consisted of the following parts.
2.2uf + -6db L-Pad in serie the tweeter,
68uf in serie with Alpha-6
8.2mH in serie for Beta-15 (wired out of phase). Also bucherout 15uf and 8.2r
I also added some sheep wool inside the Alpha-6 basket.

Zen Mod, long time no seen 🙂
Family is well and growing, third baby due in may... :/
I'm very interested in your findings regarding Sonido's in OB together with Alpha-15. I remember we talked about it a year ago.. Please keep us updated..
sim & plan
That is very interesting!! Thanks alot!
Have you had the chance to listened to them yet?

not together ;
I did listened to SFR144 , SFR200-8 , SWR200-8A in various circumstances - in horn loading , and bare drivers ;
also - I listened to MJK- style OB , with 2 Apha15 per side , paired with two ancient oval Iskra's per side .... pure joy 😉
in any case - I have no slightest doubt in Martin's software ; I used his original sheets , and just put data for spks
