Not necessarily so for an analog phono system. Why make analog sound like digital if you don't have to?

A claim to the effect that DSP and class-D can produce 'absolute audio quality' is necessarily over-stated.

Don't ignore the benefits for DRC and xover Mark. Rooms are the devil for good sound.
