all about l.e.d. spectrum analyzer display build

i just want to ask question about my build led spectrum analyzer display. the circuit came from sansui se9 audio equalizer. i finish cloned the spectrum display only. it worked fine but my concern is...it has a shadow like partially lit leds.
my question is how to completely deminished those partially lit leds? for those who experience this on their same project. please...any suggestions will be proudly accepted. thank you very much for those who want to reply...god bless diy audio forum.

A wild guess is that if you've built it with modern LEDs, those need much lower currents than LEDs did back in the '80s. Maybe you need to change some resistor values or add resistors across the LEDs to make them less sensitive.
