oh boy, lots of late orders! OK, please send your request to me by email so I have it on my computer and can track it with the others. At the moment, I still have some backlog with email, and the boards arrived yesterday too... So, there's still some time before I can to the late orders. First priority right now is packing and shipping the paid orders. I'll announce next week how many boards I have left once that's all over with. But, I have already had many requests for the spare boards, and although I ordered plenty of spares, I don't think they will be enough. 🙁

Keep your fingers crossed... we'll know in another few days.

Yes, I have received a large number of emails regarding the extra boards (yours among them, I believe). Normally I try to respond to emails immediately, but I have not yet replied to many of the more recent emails, since I'm concentrating on getting the original orders shipped. It has been a tough week for me at work, and I'm a little behind on this. So please be patient, as I have a lot to deal with right now... But, I promise to get back to everyone who's still waiting for a reply to their email.

Regarding the quantity, I don't think there will be anywhere near enough to go around with the number of late requests I've received. I'm investigating the possibility of procuring the production overage from the factory (about 38 more boards), bringing the spares total to over 90, but I fear even this will fall short of the demand. Yet another production run may be in order... we'll see how this all shakes out, but I'm not devoting much time to this until I've got the rest of the shipping done.

rev1.0 schematic

Hmm.. I should have posted this earlier, so I apologize for the oversight.

Here it is: A-X_10sch.pdf

Note that there should be a grey box labelled "Option 2" around J1a and J1b, which are directly beneath the "Option 1" grey box. Updated BOM will follow shortly, though it is virtually unchanged from rev0.9. The only differences are in the feedback resistor values.

Finally shipped!!!

Whew! That was a lot of work! But, the last of the orders were finally all shipped today, with the exception of three special cases, and a few UNPAID orders. Most of the international shipments went out today, so those of you overseas should see your packages in the next 4-7 days. The last domestic orders were shipped yesterday, so those should all be delivered by early next week at the latest, if they haven't already arrived.

Now for the part that I don't like, but has to be done:

This is final notice to anyone who originally requested boards and had a confirmed order: I have already sent a final payment warning to all of you last week, and some of you responded. However, some of you have either ignored or did not receive all the emails. If I don't hear from you by MONDAY night, your orders will be CANCELLED and added to the spare boards for other members who are willing to pay on time (don't forget, the original payment deadline was Dec 22!). There will be NO exceptions, and I will not be providing any further notice!

OK, on a lighter note, I've got a preliminary tally for the spare boards.

At present, there are at least 30 spare boards available, in part thanks to the generosity of members who offered to reduce their orders. In addition, there are 26 boards pending payment, and the possibility of procuring something in the neighborhood of 38 more (production 'overage') from the factory. The cost of these additional 38-ish boards is not known yet. This comes to a total of 68-94 boards available.

To give you some idea of the number of requests I have, my 'Aleph-X Spares' email folder contains 72 incoming messages. Only a few of those will be from the same person. On average, orders for rev1.0 boards were approximately 5.9 boards per person. A little rough calculation gives something like another 380-ish boards being requested... I'll have a real tally once I respond to the emails and get eveyone's details entered onto a spreadsheet.

Over the next week, I will be responding to all of the people who sent me email regarding the spare boards... I know a lot of you have been waiting for a reply for some time now. But, please don't expect rapid action on this. For now, I need to take a break, and get the rest of my life back in order! Beyond that, I have some thinking to do regarding how to decide who gets the available spares, and whether a second production run should be done, and if so, how to handle it (I'm not ready to sign up for another production run yet!).

hifizen:

I have a suggestion for the left over boards that you might want to mull over:

Limit the number of boards to 2 for each person who put in a request.
In this way more people will be able to try their hand at building a usable stereo amp.
Mind you, I am one of those waiting for left over boards, so take it with a grain of salt!!

Many thanks for your efforts!

Andrew
