I'm building an Aleph 4 and need to build a preamp to go with it. I imagine that both would sound good, but does anyone have a recommendation on to which would work better with the amplifier? Also does anyone know of a reasonably priced volume control for a balanced circuit? A shalco or dact would double the price of the preamp enclosure included. I don't know enough to build a volume control similar to somthing in the aleph p, I'm basically limited to attenuators and resistors as far as I know right now. Thanks for the advise.

Rob,
Try attenuators from Alps. They are reasonably priced and works great. BOSOZ makes good music, as for aleph L I can't give any comments as I've not built one myself.

Aren't those black beautys 3 poles? They have six connection points as far as I can see. Wouldn't that be for a three pole input and a three pole output? I'll try to look further into the alps pots thanks.
