Aleph J front end as pre amp???

I've been building a set of JFET BOZ preamps for a bi-amped system...

As I have been reading about the jfet boz, I see that they have high distortion figures in the 2 to 3 volt range. To make up for some filter losses, I need to swing some slightly higher voltages.

It seems that the aleph j front end could be adapted to become a pre amp...After all, the Aleph J front end swings, I guess 24 volts or so and the Aleph J has small distortion.

Is this a viable idea??

I haven't heard the JFET BOZ yet...maybe I will be happy with it as it stands...

you need entire Aleph to have it functional as gain stage
it was already made in several ways
you can use IRF510 as output , with few changes to have , say , ~ 30-40mA of Iq.... and there is no need for Aleph CCS - plain CCS ( without modulation ) is sufficient then

but - if you ask me - BA3 FE is probably better solution in this moment

yes indeed, if i were building a pre or a headamp based on pass at the moment it would definitely be BA3 based, it looks like a fun design and so flexible for future experiments. for example if you found for whatever reason you nolonger needed a pre, you could simply tack on one of the power stages and i gather there will be more to come, easy to add your own too. i think its a great idea and i'm keen to hear the BA3 beast Nattonrice has planned
