Aleph 5 Help

Since your fets don´t get too hot you don´t have a problem.

I would like to say only that it would be better next time or for other people reading this to connect the heatsinks with a thicker piece of metal so the heat is transfered to all the heatsinks uniformly. Also it is better always to put the fets in the middle of the whole construction.

It looks very cool. Those boards are very beautiful. Waiting to see more photos...

Pedro,
Congrats! Everytime I see picture like these I get a reminder of why I got the best hobby in the world!

A couple of questions-comments:
what is the transformer voltage AND power rating?
Is it a monoblock construction?
What about putting some g10 or another bad heat conductor between the trafo and the heatsink?

Nar,
keep in mind that these heatsinks are built to be used with forced air cooling and may not be at their 'best' when mounted in the way pedro did.
Basically the fins between two heatsink is not dissipating much by natural convection. So the K/W graph that kristian posted is not what Pedro has in his setup.
If you are thinking about building the A-X with 8 amp bias and +/- 24V you better think about buying some flatback heatsinks. These heatsinks don't come cheap anyways so you might as well buy something more suitable for you.

thanks for your support.
My girlfriend says the amp is awful :bawling:

some answers now:

Nar:

the sink supplier is alutronic www.alutronic.com. they sell "online". Just send Email and ask for the price. the payment is by bank transfer. the delivery by ups.

they costed €460.59 including pp and bank fees.

Promitheus:

If I didnt have these boards, I would put 2 fets/ sink in the middle of the slots. When I orderd them that was what I had in mind, But this way the amp look alot :cold:

Grataku:

the trafo if 250VA 220V->25V+25V. With the rectification it is 34V+34V

This is a dual mono Amp 1 trafo/CH, 47000uFx2 /ch 3 sinks /ch

I put some kind of foam that came with the trafo between the it and the sink.

Regarding the power rating.... I don't really know. It's basicaly the same as Pass Labs, only a slight PSU difference.

All:

Didn't you noticed the relay? I managed to get one latching relay 220AV 10A 😀

250VA per channel... Is it enough for the Aleph 5?

Hey Pedro, where did you finally end up on this Aleph 5 with the super sinks?

Did you girlfriend come to accept it for what it was....perfection?

I'm building a 1.2 and am looking for insight.

PS My wife doesn't fully understand what I'm doing!!

Hi All.
Just a quick thank you to Pedro and the chaps that helped.
I have just finished the first side of my A5 with Kristijan Boards, and had exactly the same problem. Just the help I needed at 1:40 am. All fine now. Next time check all the components !
The biggest thanks must go to Mr Pass, all the best and good health.
Richard.
