I have an Aleph 30 that has a ground loop coming from the right channel interconnect. If I bump the cable it starts buzzing, twisting the connector at the amp or wiggling the cable can make it go away. What should I be checking to eliminate it?
Source is TT, into Pioneer SX1500TD as preamp, aleph 30, epi 100 speakers.

Change the input cables, left with right. Does the issue move with that change.
Could be a bad mechanical connection of RCA jack to plug, or bad solder joint of wires to RCA or interconnect wires to RCA, or bad isolation of RCA jack from amp chassis.
I tried switching, trying only 1 input, and it seems to be the R channel input of the amp.Change the input cables, left with right. Does the issue move with that change.
What Ben said.. : )I tried switching, trying only 1 input, and it seems to be the R channel input of the amp.
I've used a scotch Brite pad on the plug, cables are brand new. I'll pop the hood and check connections after work.Could be a bad mechanical connection of RCA jack to plug, or bad solder joint of wires to RCA or interconnect wires to RCA, or bad isolation of RCA jack from amp chassis.
If necessary, try a 0.1uF ceramic capacitor from the RCA ground terminal direct to the chassis.
Keep the leads short.
Keep the leads short.
The barrel of an RCA jack can become shorted to the chassis if the little plastic gaskets used to isolate that barrel from the hole are flipped around or swapped, or if there's a metal burr, or if the barrel has shifted in a big hole to the point of contact.
