Aleph 30 diy - total beginner

it really (power , I mean) depends of Aleph CCS gain , usually called around as Aleph (CCS) AC gain

in layman terms , that's amount of how much upper part of amp (ALeph CCS itself ) is contributing to push-pull operation of output stage

so , if set differently ( and indeed , there are various percentages in various Aleph amps , or generations if you prefer) , said xls file must be edited accordingly

conclusion - that xls file isn't Opinel couteau 😉

Hi Zen,

AC-current gain is one of the input parameters for the calculation. No editing needed.🙂

there is myriad of Nelson's circuits .....

one thing is sure - his amps are always working .... but there is sometimes mistake in paperwork

The amp works absolutely fine. Just does not have any ac current gain the way the circuit is presented. I'll take a picture of it.

Edit: It can however be modified using existing pcb without too much trouble

Hi pico

I have a diy Aleph J (using PD boards) and an original Pass Labs Aleph 3. Contrary to what you might expect, my Mosfet 1st stage Aleph 3 sounds better than my toshiba 1st stage Jfet Aleph J (in my system and to my taste, of course). Am interested in what you have found as well as your modification. Please tell us more.

Don't have too much time right now, but I will present my obervations and comparisons with original Aleph series.
Should be able to post something up tonight (12 hours). Probably start a new thread, don't want to hijack this one.

I bought Aleph30 PCB's on Chipamp. My experience on DIY amps will start trying to build this amp. I hope to finish it but I'm not shure...😕
I have very few free time and I will use it to take some information and studying about circuit.
Now I must buy the parts. There is a part list on Chipamp. I'm using Digikey but I cant find a part: the capacitor C5 1 nf Panasonic ECHS PPS film. I try to find it on other sites but I can't. It seems obsolete...
Do you know an alternative capacitor to use instead of it?

It is just a 1nf film capacitor. Pick your choice. I did not find it at Digikey but their search engine is confusing at times. Here are some choices at Mouser. Pick one out and try it at Digikey.

Thank you! Sorry for my stupid questions!

No question is stupid, we all had to learn at one time in the past. Ask any question you have at any time, there is always nice people with answers on this forum.

I have built with the boards you have and it can be done but it is so much easier with one of the store boards here. My best advice is to lay this board aside and build the Aleph J with the jfets from this store. I had to learn from experience. I know the board was cheap and it is a very nice good quality board but there is so much more information about the Aleph J and even Nelson has said the Aleph J is the best sounding of the Aleph series.

You are right, probably Aleph J is the best choice. But I have already bought that PCBs (Aleph 30) and I don't want throw they away...
I hope that will be only the first my DIY amp. I hope that I'll build a lot of amps!!!

I am they same as you, do not like to waste, but the cost of the boards is not that great especially considering the total cost of the build.
