What you appear to mean is that you wish to remove the current
modulation in the positive current source.
Yes, you can do that by removing either of those components. In my
opinion the distortion becomes too high to be acceptable.
The amplifier is still single-ended either way - I can show a distinctly
different signature between push-pull and the modulated source, specifically
that it retains the 2nd harmonic.
