Since i have sold my aleph 5 boards to coloumb. im going to be building a pair of aleph 2's insted. im wondering why i need a 1kva transformer and or will a 750 work just fine. any performance loss. if i need a 1k ill get a 1k. Also what if i get a 1k what will the constant curent draw be and watts from the wall. ill be running 2 aleph 2's. fully balanced. now to my next question. Im etching my boards my self and have found a good board layout from the www.passdiy.comm gallery from some one that posted his pdf boards using 3 boards per mono block 1 main board and 2 boards that hold the fets per side of the heat sink. is this a good way to build it. ? or should i use a difrent way. any one please feel free to comment.

Using the boards this way is OK, actually that's how I would do it too. 750VA transformer is minimum, but 1000VA is better. I have two 1000VA transformers for sale. I traded them for Aleph2, but it looks that I'll be building only balanced Alephs now, so the volatage is too high. I'm asking USD100 ea. plus shipping. Here are transformers that I got: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3345&highlight=transformers

Here is a pic: 750VA Plitron on left and 1000VA Victoria Magnetics on the right (with a shield).

Jason,
Are you talking about Wayne Sanskey pdf file? If you are, he has a fourth board which is use for the power supply. Also and this is for your information, Wayne's signal board is slightly different from Kritijian's board. The difference is in the vicinity of Q5.

Peter's two 1KVA transformers will work perfectly.

Jason,
Basically, Wayne and BrianGT has the same Aleph 2 board layout which is a little different from the schematic that was publish at Pass Labs. I think by now everybody knows BrianGT board layout. It works perfectly.

fcel,

Sorry to contact you this way, but I don't have your email address.

I was wondering if you still have a copy of the spreedsheet Brian provided for the IRFP240's we purchased from him. I had a computer problem and lost the file. I would hate to have to go back through the matching process.

If you have the file and are willing to email it to me, I would be greatful:cheerful:

Thanks,
Rodd Yamashita
