It's a copper shield. Since transformer is very close to the circuit I thought I might shield it a bit to reduce the hum. But hum is still there, disappears though when the amp warms up.
Peter,
Yes, will use 1 bridge per rail.
Just curious, what sort of amp is it that you posted previously?

Hey luke why dont you make the powersupply external to the amp case so that you dont have to worrie about heat and room. im doing this because i have no room for my transformer in one case with 2 aleph 5 boards. so ill have a set of mono blocks and a external psu. ( idea from promithues. )
Jason,
the idea is growing on me. I posted earlier that I considered this and thought about making it regulated using the Zen4 regulation. Thing is space and girlfreind. My living room isnt big and think two big chassis is enough amplification for now. Although Ive allways had a fascination for a wall of sound😀

Like one of those huge, multi-chassis (8?!) Jadis behemoths? 😀 I remember seeing pictures, but I don't recall the model number.
All I could think of was my electric meter spinning like a deli meat slicer... although not having to run the furnace in the winter was a somewhat appealing positive.
