Hi,
I've been using AKAI AM-37 for couple of years and recently started to notice that the sound becomes distorted more and more. Today I wanted to record some LPs to a reel and the sound became quite terrible. I can understand the music but it sounds now distorted. First thought it was a stylus but then changed to CD input and tried to play a CD - nothing changed.
Really do not know where to start looking. Can it be a power supply or transistors? Or maybe something else to look at?
Can someone show me the right path what to look for?
Cheers

First check, DC offset at the speaker terminals.

Thanks for the manual. Really appreciate it!
About DC offset... I have read on some page how to measure it.
Nothing connected to amp showes me jumping voltage from 100 to 400mV, if volume is turned out it sais about 2-3mV
Do I measure the right way?

Hey again,
i did some mistake.... I didn't fastened contact from multimeter well and did bad readings.
Now, measuring right channel the readings without any input from 100 to 2000mv and sometimes more. Left is OK I think, it showes 4-5mV constantly, and tries to handle it even if i turning volume UP.
Can there be a problem on right channel capasitor of 6800uF?
