Project is starting to balloon. Just the RX is getting to be a largish endevour. Attached is the receiver section of the project, AK4115VQP IC used.
PCBs for the project will be in 3 sections forming a U shape (receiver, SRC and DAC). Wanted this to ease rear panel layout and minimizing internal harnesses (intending to use TOSLINK mostly). Boards will plug into each other via small rectangular headers (1.27mm header pitch). Optionally a ribbon cable can be used to spread-out the boards just in case. This PCB is looking like 3.25 by 2.5 inches, 4 layer. Lots of room gets eaten up by the headers and switches. Unsure as to the utility of the DIT of the AK4115VQP. Seems like there are limitations regarding its use. Probably use 3rd party DIT on SRC board. Located on this board is a LVDS receiver to TOSLINK converter to receive the 3rd party DIT. Need to avoid OPTICAL harness. Twisted pair is intended as I did not want to run the DIT communication along the entire board with extra header.
SRC AK4137EQ, still having trouble locating some silicon. Probably have the AK4115VQP and AK4490 layout done before SRC. Will go over the other schematics again as this is slowly starting to sink in. Since we are off the deep end anyways, will probably add by-passable MUSE volume control IC on the DAC board for playing around. Can tap the DAC out-lines before the MUSE if needed.

cs8422
Did you check the specs of cs8422 as receiver? It is an async receiver. You may able to use low phase noise clocks for reclocking input data.
Here is another hi-spec candidate:
