Hello, I am new. Sorry if something similar has been asked before, but I did try searching....
I have an Aiwa PX-E850 turntable, which I have seen slated on this board for being awful... but it's all I've got to work with at the moment. The drive belt has come loose, but there seems to be no way of lifting up the platter in order to put it back in to place (it doesn't just need hooking back on to the motor; it no longer goes all the way around the bottom of the platter). On our other turntable, you can just lift up the platter, but on this Aiwa one, it seems to be fixed in to place (no screws to unscrew or anything...) So I cannot see any way of re-attatching the drive belt, which is very frustrating. I'd like to avoid taking it to be repaired if I can save some money by doing it myself. I found the owners' manual online, but that was no use. Any advice?
Thanks in advance,
Simon.

Hi,
There is always a way, just a question of finding it.
Sometimes its brute force and ignorance, on a lot of asian
turntables the platter gets "stuck" on the centre spindle.
What you do here is find the screw that allows the spindle out of
the bearing, then seperate spindle from platter with a soft hammer.
🙂/sreten.

Platter is secured to spindle with a circlip - easily flicked off with a screwdriver, though watch it doesn't fly to the other side of the room ! The belt is the stretched around the rim on the underside of the platter and a finger inserted through the aperture and underneath the belt while the platter is replaced - with the aperture over the motor spindle. The belt is then pulled over the spindle, and the circlip replaced. It may be you are in need of a new belt as they don't usually come off unless stretched or broken.
