Does anyone here know of where I can find or download a service manual for the Agilent/HP 339a ?
A google search has revealed a few links including Agilents website, however upon downloading the PDF the quality is too poor to read the parts list (its like a very poorly scanned document).
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thx.

Hi audiojim,
I share your frustration with the quality of PDF copies of the HP339A manuals.
The official Keysight web sight seems to offer only the following:
339A Distortion Measurement Set [Obsolete] | Keysight
There you will find two downloads: The 1983 manual has parts lists that are largely legible. Unfortunately, the oscillator schematic is not included. The 1979 version does include the oscillator schematic but part number legibility is atrocious.
I'll be delighted if you discover better sources. Please keep us posted!

Did you try the "Boat Anchor Manual Archive"? Bama Manual Archive the parts list is somewhat legible.
btw, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The skirts on the knobs are easily damaged, they seem to have super-glued the allen key set screws, and the switches will be extremely unhappy if you clean them with anything but IPA.

Thanks for the reply, I have downloaded the 1983 manual which as you say is a bit better but I will keep on the lookout for something better.
If I find something I will be sure to let you know.

Unfortunately the one on there is the same, its like this one poorly scanned document is floating around the net.
I hope not to have to do anything with the 339A other than use it, completely agree with you on the whole if it aint broke aspect! but its nice to have the service manual just incase.
Will keep searching.... thanks for the reply.
