Interesting thread. Now am fascinated by both digital and analog, having a hard time deciding what I like the best. I have an SME3000 on my TT and have tried various MM carts on it, including the Ortofon VMS. Strangely the best tracker is an old Audio Technica with shibata stylys... Made all the difference on my (worn) records.
Come to think about it, a cheap CD player beats a cheap turntable any day. If more people had owned quality record players back then, CD would have had a harder time catching on IMO.
