Sorry, I should have said 'will' be homogenous. It's simply not possible to fit low frequencies modally into a box of a given size. As a result, it doesn't primarily matter where the port goes. There will be secondary concerns and there will be higher frequencies to be dealt with.

Can I ask, what secondary concerns are you referring to?

For example, some report that putting a port on the back vs the front makes a difference. There are many threads here already discussing such details.

kimmosto is one of the more recent members to talk about locating the port with regard to internal modes, the thread was started by someone else though, if you go looking for it.

A mass loaded transmission line is an enclosure that counts on modes to function.
