I bought a kit tube-screamer type guitar pedal, which came with a DPDT Carling Switch. Unfortunately, I melted part of the switch whilst wiring the circuit. I've looked for Carling DPDT switches on the internet and am not sure which one to buy. My switch has a plastic block underneath it about 2x1cm with 6 metal loops protruding from it in a 3x2 formation. Does this make sense? Can you point me in the right direction?

Go to radio spares and navigate to automation / switches to identify more fully the type of switch you require (eg toggle / rocker / slide / push etc). From the size you specify I would guess a "standard" size toggle switch.

I just bought three of these DPDT center off toggles on eBay:

At 1 dollar each I thought it was a good deal. Not sure exactly what kind of DPDT you're looking for, but maybe that'll help.
