I have some Seas Excel W18EX001 drivers I'd like to use, and was hoping people could answer some questions I have.
1. I'm hoping to use one of these drivers per speaker in some small (~14 liter) sealed boxes, crossed over around 60hz to a small subwoofer. I'm aware that thiele-small parameters are all wrong, causing an impedance issue. However, these speakers will be used with an active crossover and bi-amped, and WinISD shows a nice smooth rolloff for the W18EX in the box I intend to use.
2. I'd like to use these woofers with some ScanSpeak 6600 tweeters. While this is not an entirely optimal configuration, I hope to use a waveguide to boost the low-end efficiency of the tweeter to allow for a lower xover point. Assuming I make use of the very high order (6th+) filters made possible by the DCX2496, how high can I cross this woofer over? I was thinking 1.7khz, but 1.5khz should not be a problem.

Unibox shows that 14L sealed will give you an F3 of 116, and recommends 4L for an F3 of 99Hz, either way you'll have a gap if your sub crosses at 60 Hz. Personally, I'd do without the sub and go vented; 16L tuned to 43Hz gives an F3 of 43Hz.
The woofer looks ok, but what I do not like with these Excell drivers is the breakup node which is hard to control and even with a steep xover and a notch - you can still hear it occurs. However, I think that this driver can be smoothed with some modifications to the cone.
If you use waveguides to the tweeters, you can cross them lower, they will be easy to align with the woofer and they will need less power. The waveguide should cause a roll off at the high treble of the tweeter.
