Thanks in advance!
Recently purchased a pair of these combos on eBay. Measured them today. Used 15 cycle FDW. Please see attached charts. Are they close enough? Should I send them in for inspection and ferrofluid replacement? Is the notch at 10K normal?
Regards,
Paul

I've seen worse. Should be easy to fix. I don't know these drivers but the notch isn't too unusual. The horn might even have issues with 10k?
Thanks, I appreciate your thoughts.
Do you know what, if anything, the differences above the notch mean.

Paul

I would only be guessing. I notice the frequencies of minor anomalies are very slightly different between the drivers. I wonder about the internal fit of the parts, the consistency of the domes, the coherence of the wavefront, breakup resonance, voice coil resistances etc. Polars may help, but that can come with time.
Did you ensure the throats are properly aligned with the drivers? It doesn't take much to upset things.
I'd compare impedances for each driver, on the horn as is first, then on their own. Ensure the coils are at room temperature.

The 2435's have a very short phase plugs and depending on the horn/waveguide it's not uncommon to see response dips or peaks in the upper ranges. Your measurements don't look all that different from mine.

Wow, I'm jealous !!!!!!
Thanks for the measurements !!!!!!
I loved that driver on 2384.
It probably wouldn't hurt but costly (ferrofluid), top end may come up some, idk.
Dualtriode actively crossed at 2khz, but looking at your graph (due to a z peak near 1.6khz), i'd say active at 1.2khz would be fine.

Active. Minidsp to start, probably AudioLense later.
I'm going to start with the B&C 12tbx100 for the woofer. I may have to do something else as it may not have enough hf extension.

Wow, 4" coil, I'd have figured on higher sensitivity, shorting ring, low qts .26
They recommend tuning at fs, so if you beat the schmoo out of it, maybe 1 hour later the qts may float up to .3, maybe not with a 4" coil wicking away the heat, you'd still be 9db down at fs.
Then again, my 2206 is probably 10db near 50hz, with eq it is fine for harder rock, like a strange redo of "bad company" im listening to right now.
B&c looks a little resonancy near 1.2khz, may be an issue trying to cross that high.

I'm not sure they are the best choice, but they are just laying around. They can take 1,000 watts, so could be EQ'd.
What would be your recommendation for the best woofer.

Hmm, I'm flattered.
What type of music ?
I'm converted to jbl 2206 now (what i got), used arn't too pricy but watch for bad recone jobs, ideally less than $300 for new old stock. Or I've wanted to try the eminence delta pro 12a at $140. No shorting rings but good kick as reported by diysoundgroup tempest owners and even jeff the designer, and erich h i think. Smooth break up, not too in your face, but not as detailed as a pair of 8's i think I'd read not too long ago. But a 12" 2 way is its own set of compromises.

Thanks for the recommendations. I like classical and jazz primarily, although rock does get played.
np, thank you for your time and graphs !!!!!!!!
I just got a pair of those waveguides also.
I'd like 2435hpl, but I'm ok with the 2431h I'm using now, so I may get some to drive the horns.

I built some enclosures for the PTH1010, 2435HPL and B&C 12TBX100 drivers. Overall dimensions are 16" wide, 28" tall and 10.5" deep. I made a double thick front baffle, 1.5" thick. During the build, before rebates and front panel bevel, I mounted the drivers and took measurements. I also took measurements after rebates for the drivers and bevel for the baffles. You can see the measurements in the attachments. I also attached a picture of the assembled enclosures.
I was underwhelmed by the small differences between measurements. The largest differences seem to be between 2000hz and 7000hz.
What are your thoughts?

Crossover point and slope ?
Eq flat, then add eq to your taste.
I'd wrap the last bend in the horn with felt or foam and see if it sounds better to you.
How does it sound to you ?
Maybe a round over would have more effect vs sharp break, idk.

Current crossover point is 1200hz LR4. I used REW to EQ with crossover included. Got a decent null between the two drivers, when one was out of phase. I then eq'd the combined response, flat and then with eht REW house curve. I do like the house curve better, but some experimentation is called for.
I plan to fill the waveguide with foam, ala Geddes. Will post new measurements as that happens.

I may be wrong, but the horn is so shallow, and so wide, i doubt filling it with open cell foam would do much of anything.
I think a waterfall could show difraction resonances.
