Ive only posted a few times but im a long time lurker. This is my first try at an lcd projector and this is my setup so far.
18" fl opaque projector lens
400w hps w/Ushio conversion 5200K temp
15" lcd 300:1 contrast
ir glass
uv glass(should give it a coor temp of about 5500k)
fs mirror
Ive been searching the forums for the best fresnels to use for this project. Im thinking about a 330fl fresnel with a 550fl fresnel. But there is also the 220fl fresnel. There are also a few grove pitches to choose from. So from the links ive found around the forums these are the fresnels that are availible.
330fl .5 pitch
330fl .2 pitch
220fl .5 pitch
200fl .2 pitch
What would be the difference between the 330fl at .5 compared to .2 pitch grove?
The only thing ill be using this projector for will be to watch dvd's mostly in wide screen format. This leads me to want the best light coverage over having perfect focus at the corners. Since the upper and lower corners wont be used that often and wont be seen much during movie watching.
Ive also been trying to gather up a condenser and reflector for this setup. Is the soup laddle from the projectordiy sites any good? As for the condenser, the only one that ive found on the diy sites say that they wouldnt take a 400w light. Can any one direct me to some condensers that will work?
After I do some testing with the hardware im going to start to build a standup enclosure for it. My best friend is a scalptor and loves the work of H.R.Giger(artest, sculptor, etc). He's working on a fiber glass Giger inspired sculptor that will enclose my projector. At 6-7 feet tall, this should be awesome!!! Will post some picks as soon as a get a few.
Thanks for everyones time🙂

since those are the condenser fresnels i would go with the .56pitch. because you dont really need .2 unless it is the front fresnel
giger is one of the best artists to ever live.
his artwork that helped the suprisingly low budget "Alien" film by ridley scott took it to a whole new leve.
that fossil alien that sits at the star scope scene is awesome.
giger was a bit of a pervert though, i don't like his intercourse sculputures too much.
