Hey guys, I bought a Counterpoint SA7 preamp a few months back, and would like to upgrade/replace the caps throughout as they are 20+ years old. Where do I start? all caps at once or a few at a time.
I would like to keep prices below $150, but am having difficulty finding the higher voltage caps for the tube section (100uf/350v & 47uf/450v) other that some very high priced Blackgates.
Also recommendations for the PSU caps, and phono/line stage caps - which are currently Relcaps.
PSU (is the large cap 47uf/450v part of PSU or tube section???)

105 degree rated Chemicons at the required voltage and capacitance are available from Digikey or Mouser. They're pretty inexpensive and work very well.
For coupling caps, you'll hit the law of diminishing returns once you use some decently constructed polypropylenes. Your old caps may still be just fine, probably are, but if any have gone leaky or drifted off value, Wima FKPs are as good as anything else out there, except for their lack of fashion and prestige value and their reasonable pricing.

Brett,
I tried to send you an email and found I couldn't, but if you want you can contact me and I'll help you out.
I replaced all of the coupling caps in my HH Scott with Orange Drop(polypro) capacitors a few years back and noticed a marked improvment. Available on Antique Audio Supply- http://www.tubesandmore.com/. Pretty decent price for the quality

Panasonic TSHA and TSHB are both excellent.
