Hi,
The gentleman is Ernst Werner von Siemens.
Whenever I bark, it's usually up the wrong tree....😀
Cheers, 😉
BTW, who is that gentleman in your avatar?

I got that book for XMas 2 christmases ago :^)
I got the Baby Snakes DVD this last XMas. It has hints in it that the bits for a "Billie the Mountain" animated movie could exist (it may already exist and i haven't seen it -- the Zappa web site has a ton of stuff on my wish list.

Indeed. We pop up in the strangest places. I've taken a few musicology courses from one of the composers who picked Zappa to give the keynote speech at an ASUC convention sometime in the '80s (see Bingo! There Goes Your Tenure in The Real Frank Zappa Book). They didn't let him choose the speaker at the next convention. 😀

I'm sorry, I didn't think that would upset anyone 🙁 Hugh is a bit of a wierdo. His interest in tubes is a nostalgia for something that probably never existed (the myth of the "good old days"). I didn't expect anyone to take him seriously.

Yes gregg pecc.... I know it was a stab ... otherwise I'm easy on my tubes and advice.....
Appropo OTL.....Philips designed an OTL p-p amp in the late 1960's using EL86's......What power output ?
Has anyone got a cue on this ?

Hi,
4.8 W into 800 Ohm.
The user had the choice of either capcoupled output or a 1:1 OPT.
Cheers, 😉

Hi,
Wake up, Pavel...The name is Frank, not Fred and not Zappa either.
Why people keep on to confusing the two of us is beyond me, he's the ugly one.
Second, I just gave Rich some info about an historic circuit...
Not my fault it looks useless to you, right?
Third, usefulness aside, those 800 Ohm Philips speakers sounded surprisingly good for stone age listeners like myself.....
Cheers, 😉
Realy powerful stone axe, Fred and great range of 800 Ohm boxes on market . Cheers. Pavel

Ah. I'd always wondered who they named sperm after. 😀

SE: There's a rocket launching joke in there somewhere.
Dave: Happy Birthday, old timer. 1954, oh my. Had they even invented electrons then?

since there are no advancements in tube amp design we might just talk about age anyway...🙂
wondering who is the youngest and oldest among us ?
Anybody less than 31 years old ? 😉

Hi,
Not quite old enough, indeed.
A belate happy one to Dave as well.
You're way too young to even think about that, Steve...
There must be plenty....
I think Sch3mat1c is still among the youngest members, IIRC....
Cheers, 😉
Not old enough to remember Stephens, eh?

Physically or mentally? I'm 49 going on 22. 😀
An event that made me feel old-
I was cleaning and reorganizing things in the basement a few years ago when I came across my old turntable, at the time not connected to my system. My kids, at the time about 14 and 16 looked at it with something approaching awe and one of them said "Oh, wow! A record player!!"
