Advanced (to me neway) laptop computer related questions.

Hi,

I've asked a few people about this but none of them seemed to know 🙁 So is it possible with a laptop to...

- Set it up so that the laptop controlls the light? Eg, the metal halide turns on at the same time as the laptop as a backlight would. The light doesnt need to use the same power source however. This isnt all that important, it just makes for a more professional project.

- Set a laptop with a 4:3 screen to display everything in a 16:9 area? So 16:9 movies will play with the borders as normal, and 4:9 movies/desktop/games/everything basically will play in that 16:9 area (with the top and bottom borders and left and right, scaled, not stretched) ?

Also, not a difficult question but, whats a good tv-in card for laptops? Preferably with a S-VHS in and RCA in (just video will do) ? I want to be able to plug my vcr, dvd player, nintendo etc in. (I know I can get a DVD drive for the laptop which'd end up better quality but I can't afford that at this time when I already have a DVD.)

Thanks

I'm guessing that the first could be done pretty easily. You'd have to hook up a relay or something to something that turns hot when the computer comes on.. you may be able to hook to USB actually.. this way you could run a bulb w/ any computer... do not think it would be that hard to do.

other 2, I dunno.
