At the 2004 CES we'll be showing a 24" square baffle unit, with a Qts of 0.72 and an Fs of 7 Hz. Flat anechoic response to 6 Hz. And capable of over 66 liters of linear air displacement! That will generate reference level (121 dB SPL) output at 20 Hz, when sitting naked in a room - no room gain, no baffle, no box required. The first true dipole driver (not sub - no baffle, remember!) that can do reference outputs. With flat output to the single digits. How's that for a driver?
😱 Now this is goddam low fs, sealed box lover save your bucks

Skinnyboy, I think the pionneer monsters are just been stunned by those adire with 12'' of Xmax isn't it 😀

Simply not the case, only when measured nearfied.
The baffle will roll-off 6dB/octave below 300Hz farfield.
🙂 sreten.
ye cannea chage the laws of physics, laws of physics, laws of physics, ye cannea chage the laws of physics, laws of physics, cap'n.

Ok ill be quiet but sreten speaks truth.

From Adire:
..figure in the $4500-$5000 range for most "normal" application.
The Dipole Bass Contingent is applying for second jobs and taking out additional mortgages even as we speak... 😉

I thought there wasn't a baffle to this thing? Why do they say square baffle then say there isn't a baffle?

looks interesting to say the least. I know adire has both enthuists and enemies here, anyone wanna discuss this monster?

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

By this point, Dan's out of the world of audio and into the world of industrial linear motors. Provided he can find a springy suspension to hold the voice coil, he is to the point where he could effectively market an electrically-operated sonic jackhammer that would probably just power through concrete and stuff.

That 24" square "baffle" is the cone, BTW. And assuming a rising magnitude to overcome the roll-off that's not strictly true (can be done easily electronically).
there's Klingon's on the starboard bow, starboard bow,starboard bow....there's Klingon's on
the startboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow,....
Ye canna change the laws of physics......
electronic equalization is not claimed , is not claimed, is not claimed, it is not claimed,
electronic equalization is not claimed , is not claimed, is not claimed, it is not claimed,
so what are you talking about ?
p.s. I plead the 5th for such unsubtlety.

Interesting. I guess you have to make a reference to the US Constitution when your country doesn't have one. 😀 (no offense)
I'll do my best to report on this device after CES. I'm sure I won't be alone.
the reference is to Mr 5th element, with the american allusion
thrown in as to be extremely witty, as is the British want.
I guess we'll never see quite eye to eye on humour.

Whaddya talkin' about? I love Mr. Bean!
HOLY SH.... this thing loox like a monster(well in car audio they have that kind of monsters too).
Wow thats badass, truly, dipole people will get second jobs to get it...

They could make a thing for the military that would break through really thick glass and rock, sort of a jackhammer that works on the principles of the Philips Sonicare toothbrush.

Scotty, I need power from those engines now.
The Enterprise spirals down toward the atmosphere.
But captain, I canna change the laws of physics--I gotta have thirty minutes!!
So, high excursion woofers are the way to go, but they still need to be in baffles or low end waves will cancel.

oo... I saw my name.. 😀 the 5000 watt pioneer subs have like a 12mm x-max.... I fail to see how they couldn't be beaten.... on, maybe it was more than 12mm.. but they claimed to hold the world record for the highest SPL... hmmm 9 of them....
