is there anything inexpensive which would hold old/ratty but thick & stiff (~1/4") carpet ? - its pulled on the 1.5" wings inset of my little midbass cabinets

the carpet is backless and very porous -- will order a can- maybe it'll work if I'm careful to let both surfaces get dry
I used to recover pool tables. We used unbacked felt. Some places used felt with a non-porous backing. The felt is stretched tight across the slate and glued in place on the underside. We used common contact cement, and I never had an issue with it letting go.
Should be able to find it locally unless you live way out in the weeds. Not expensive.

I've covered many cabinets with carpet using brush on contact cement, however the last pair of speakers I just finished I used this
V&S #581 Foam & Fabric Spray Glue Adhesive 12 oz.
and it worked great, it saved a lot of time, bonds fast and strong. You spray it on both surfaces just like you would use contact cement.
Here's the finished project.

Thanks, Mike! It's very cool, didn't hear about this manufacturer. I don't need any, because I have enough https://vk.com/kb_volnovod ))
