Has anyone actually experimented with adding weight to the cone or dust cap to fine tune Fs?

Several times I thought about this, to reduce the lower resonance of the moving mechanism, but in the other hand I think we will need more power from the amp to move the added weight. I really don't know if there is any gain or advantage .
Use to do it a lot back when driver Fs tended to be > 40-50 Hz, though of course efficiency drops like a stone as a trade-off, so normally was done only to a secondary woofer I'd put on the rear for LF 'fill'/close coupled wall loading [~3/4" gap].
Did see it on a small 2.5 way system at one of the local DIY Meets ages ago though. IIRC the in-line woofers were 6.5" and on the bottom '.5' one, he'd formed a 'perfect to the eye' circle of 3/16" or /1/4"? thick lead solder that fit perfectly around the DC/diaphragm's mounting joint; very professional looking, not to mention performed quite well at typical HIFI SPLs.

Outer weighted passive radiators tend to look a bit ugly but they do what there supposed to. I have a feeling I might be comparing apples to oranges here though.
When you add mass, Fs drops and Qts rises.
Easy enough to simulate, though it rarely helps matters. I'd rather EQ it and keep the efficiency.

I wouldn´t add mass these days in age of measurement tools and close to free processing. You´re better of with different tuning and strong PEQs.
Hey guys,
Looking around for a nice sub driver for a <20Hz TL I found this one: Mivoc XAW 320 H
You can attach some washers behind a removable dust-cap. Brilliant.
Here is some TS-parameters with a table for different amounts of washers.
With all washers on you can make a BR tuned on f3 = 12 Hz😱
Anybody some experience with this driver?
Only thing that makes me curious: it's a German brand, but it's hard to find a shop willing to ship it to me in the Netherlands.
