Hello, i got a pair of speakers for free today.
These are the elements i salvaged.

They are problably not hifi material but since they were free i thought i might give them a shot. I was thinking of running them isobarik in a subwoofer. But I would like to lower their Fs. I read that you could add weight to the dust cover to achieve that. What do you think?

Be careful of two things: the Qts is already pretty high, and added mass will make it even higher. The magnet looks a bit weak. And consequently, you'll have some power handling (read: SPL) issues in the deep bass. I'd save the added-mass technique for drivers that have better motors.
Free is nice, though!

Don't forget that you also decreasing the efficiency of the speaker if you add mass the the moving part.
Thanks everyone. I dumped the idea of adding weight, I drilled a hole in a sidepanel I had laying around and am currently running it as an open bafflesub. Although I don't doubt that it would probably not compete with comercial subs I think it's quite good considering the total cost was $0.00.
