TROUBLE CONTROL
Hi Joel,
Try to follow the signal path for just one control only, you may then see how it works.
Cheers,😉
Hi Joel,
but I don't get how the single connection (via the grid) works with the rest of the circuit.

CLUELESS IN NY.
Joel,
Trace the signal path back from the feedback loop at the outputstage.
If you don't see the light then maybe a reread of the DHB is in order.😀

Thanks for the insult frank.🙁 If I understood the circuit I wouldn't have asked the question. But I don't feel bad, because I don't think anyone else here can explain exactly how the three feedback circuits at the bottom work, including you.
Well, if you would be so kind as to stoop to my level, I'd love to hear an explanation. I'm sure others would find it illuminating
as well.

YOU GOTTA LOVE PINOCCHIO
Joel,
You could have found this yourself but here goes:
BIOHONIC EQ.
If after that I still have to "splain" stuff I'll tear my hair out.🙄
Cheers,😉

Yes, a very lousy explanation that I had already read:
Frequency shaping is accomplished with 3 triode-based resonant filters that vary the amp gain.
I'm not familiar with "resonant filters", but I see that further help is not forthcoming.🙁

FORGET THAT FILTER FOR NOW.
Joel,
Are you familiar with the opamp (operational amplifier) topology?
Cheers,😉

Joel,
Each filter is a small gyrator. I tried to give you a clue with my silly Q clues. You see it "sticks"for ever if you have to do some of the work yourself.🙂
Thinking of them as gyrators, each one increases the Q of the coupled capacitor, so the boost band is narrower and peakier.
Thinking of them as resonators, they are tuned circuits resonating at the peaking frequency.
It's almost "something for nothing"😉

EQP1A
cadman,
Do your self a favor! Blow the Bax. circuit out. This is the most commonly used "HI-FI" EQ on the planet and only delivers ho-hum performance. Bite the bullet and build a stereo Pultec EQP-1A clone. You will then have an EQ that will cause you to never look back. If not the Pultec then Steve Bench's little inductor based 3-band would be the next choice IMO.

Maybe, but these little gyrators ARE inductors without the turns😉Steve Bench's little inductor based 3-band would be the next choice IMO
Guess I'll jump in here-
Frank, why do you think tapping the preamp's supply wouldn't work? It already offers +/-200v from two transformer/v-doubler ckts that should have no problem carrying the load after some light fortifying. Heater supply is no problem, the trans is rated 20A. Aside from the benefit of chassis isolation. Am I overlooking something?
