Adding SPDIF input to Adcom GCD-575

I have several Adcom GCD-575 CD players where the laser has died and rather than dump them I thought it might make a decent DAC project. Has anyone added an external SPDIF input into the model? I’m not looking to keep the cd transport as part of this conversion.

Components in this unit look pretty decent and I remember the TDA1591A sounding nice when it was working. If I can get this unit to function as a stand alone DAC, upgrading the opamps and power supply would follow.

Is the DAC chip the classic TDA1541A? Why SPDIF in?

Yes, classic TDA1541A chip.. SPDIF is what my current sources output, but I2s, USB could also work.

Filter is CXD1088AQ. Sony format not I2S. BCK is 48Fs. Not so simple.

Then maybe bypass the filter? Run it NOS. Keep the post DA analogue filter.

NOS would be easy enough with something like the JLSounds USB board but not a fan of NOS.

According to the data sheet there is a pin to toggle between Sony and I2S.. I believe the Adcom circuit already has this set to I2S by default. I may be interpreting this incorrectly, still getting my head around this

Only on the output of the CXD1088AQ. The input is fixed.

Thanks everyone, looks like my options are run NOS or add a new filter in place of the CXD1088AQ.. I was hoping it would be easy to tap into the CXD and run
