could be that you have a ceramic resonator in your CD player, these do not need caps
which player is it, and which chip is connected to the crystal / resonator ?

Hi!
It is ceramic, blue to be correct... If you look at the picture posted by mace1337 just above in this thread, you'll see it a bit to the left, at the bottomline of the picture. Light blue...
The two outher pins of the resonator are connected to a MN66271RA (PIN 58 AND 59), and the pin i the middle is proably the grounding, as you said yesterday.
The CD-player in an old Yamaha CDX-480, and I'm doing this just for fun/learning...
