Adding SPDIF and other mods to Yamaha CDX 480

Hmm... I still have some problems here...

Usually I can identify a cap between ground and each of the pins on the crystal. On this CD-player I can't find these caps...

Any clue..?

could be that you have a ceramic resonator in your CD player, these do not need caps

which player is it, and which chip is connected to the crystal / resonator ?

Hi!

It is ceramic, blue to be correct... If you look at the picture posted by mace1337 just above in this thread, you'll see it a bit to the left, at the bottomline of the picture. Light blue...

The two outher pins of the resonator are connected to a MN66271RA (PIN 58 AND 59), and the pin i the middle is proably the grounding, as you said yesterday.

The CD-player in an old Yamaha CDX-480, and I'm doing this just for fun/learning...

The LCI is fed with 5V so we could expect at least 1Vrms.

Good idea, but it won't work for me as I've got a passive pre in my setup.
