I have a vintage Marantz 2220B with no preout
Also a university sound 120A with no preout also
I just came across and restoring a Dynakit St-70 and would like to add it to the working collection
What is the best way to add a preout without a wiring diagram?
Thanks!

The amp board of the Marantz is to the right rear. there should be two sets of preamp outputs going to it.
You could simply reroute those to the rear panel with a couple holes for RCA, or a single 6.35mm TRS.

I was looking at the SS university Sound receiver
Sounds like a dumb (or very easy) idea
Can I take the headphone signal and put it into the dynakit st-70
Isn’t the headphone output basically just a preamp?
Or is there more to the headphone Jack?

Hi. I'm a bit late to the party. This is a related, more general question. I want to add a pre-out to my old Yamaha RX-V440RDS (UK) AV receiver. I have the circuit diagrams. Are you saying - in general - that it's simply a question of locating the power amp input (for each channel) and soldering a new wire to a new RCA socket? There is no additional buffering required? " ... a vintage Marantz 2220B with no preout Also a university sound 120A with no preout also ... "
does this mean that both the units have a particularly good preamp section ? just asking
Always interested about very good line preamps ... vintage is also fine to me

For me, fine can be some Mass product having electronic volume(It goes well with a remote control) and El. Input sel., with pluses (?) like bass/treble and a LCD for all & radio !vintage is also fine to me
Why ..?
Because...rust..oxyde...
DIY molestors..ah ah!
Vintage has this disadvantage...
Hi ! you are very right ... but in the vintage world some equipment have gained a very good reputation for good soundFor me, fine can be some Mass product having electronic volume(It goes well with a remote control) and El. Input sel., with pluses (?) like bass/treble and a LCD for all & radio !

Often they are overcomplicated ... i do not see the need of tone controls for instance And yes the mechanism can be a mess
But their schematics can be interesting ...
